The 2020 Spring One Room Challenge grand reveal deadline came and went. In my true delayed fashion, I am way off schedule! For those of you who haven’t been following along, I have taken on our guest room and have brought it to its full potential by hiding it inside of a home office. I have built or refinished EVERYTHING in this room to get here and it has been a hard ride! Catch up with what’s been going on below:

The Road to the Guest Room Reveal
I won’t lie, it has not been easy to get to this point. Everything seemed to take so much longer than I expected it to, plus I had a chicken coop to build in the middle of everything. There were quite a few bumps in the road, but friends… MY GOD WE’VE MADE IT.
Before I get to those juicy reveal photos, though, let’s take a quick look at where we started.
What We’ve Done

Newly Added:Paint all crown and baseboards – ???Build waterfall live edge deskRefinish credenzaBuy lampsExchange ceiling fan
This was a huge undertaking, but I was able to create a two-in-one type of room that was both functional and stylish.
The After – Home Office Portion
The true finishing touches were the baseboard and crown moulding provided by Ornamental Moulding and Millwork – they adorn the top of the built-in shelving unit and really help to finish the room. Without these finishing touches, this room would just look naked.
This waterfall live edge desk was a first for me! I traveled to a local mesquite lumberyard about six miles from where I live – Faifer & Company. They have an amazing selection of mesquite and pecan live edge slabs, lumber and other milled wood – a true dream for a woodworker!
This mid-century modern pillow by Deborah Main at The Pillow Goddess is the perfect accent to this room – I am always so impressed by her designs!
This artwork and the antique brick mold were both found at a unique shop in Comfort, Texas – Shopping With Siobhain.
The After – Hidden Guest Room
The guest room actually hides inside of the built-in shelving that serves as the backdrop of the office.
Meanwhile, the old office chair hides in the corner of the guest room.
Thank You All
First and foremost, thank you to ALL OF YOU who were cheering me on as I boarded the struggle bus during this One Room Challenge. I’d like to also thank Linda Weinstein, the creator of the One Room Challenge and their fabulous media partner, Better Homes and Gardens. They put so much work into this and it is such a fun time for everyone involved.
Further, a huge amount of gratitude goes out to my limited number of sponsors and friends who have helped provide such wonderful products for this room.
Ornamental Moulding and Millwork with the incredible baseboards and crown moulding really helped pull this room together. Without trim, a room is just naked – their quality craftsmanship and superior product led to some of the most beautiful trim I have in my entire house.
T H A N K Y O U
for trusting that I would do your product justice in this room.
Robin Clock provided the modern day clock and I love the simplicity of its design. It is sleek and easy to use – it will also tell you the time/date if you ask it to!
To my friend Deborah Main with The Pillow Goddess blog and design company – your pillows are beautiful and they worked perfectly with the design! I appreciate you allowing me to feature your incredible talent in this room! I hope my tile job/instruction will serve you for many years in your gorgeous kitchen. <3
To Josh Hescott from Hescott Design Co. – thank you so much for helping to guide me through my very first waterfall live edge desk. Your help was instrumental in me developing the confidence to actually give this a shot. While my build is not perfect, I am so happy with it!
For those interested in serious craftsmanship, his woodworking is off the charts!
I hope that you have enjoyed this journey with me and know that it was a trying one! If you get a chance, please head over to some of the featured designers to check out their final reveals – everyone put in so much work and the results definitely reflect that.

Now, it’s time to take a breather!
You did it!! It looks AMAZUNG!!! Congratulations Michelle. 🎉 I’ve always loved dark blue with Brown’s, golds and caramel colors. The colors you chose are beautiful. And it STILL blows my mind that you built the Murphy bed, all the built-in shelves and the mesquite desk. You are incredibly takented!! I’m so glad my pillows worked for the room too.
And I firmly believe that if you had not taken 5 days out of your schedule to come teach me how to tile my kitchen you would have had it done. I can’t thank you enough for being such a great friend. I learned a lot from the expert DIY-er.
So happy for you!!! You creared two stunning rooms in one. Now get some resr!! Xo❤
Thank you my sweet friend! You have been so supportive during this process – I can’t believe the colors came together like they did! I had a vague plan in my brain and then it just kind of worked out in the end. I am happy I could help you with your kitchen tile! That looked so amazing in your reveal!
This is seriously GORGEOUS, Michelle! That desk OMG I’m drooling a little…LOL. You have unbelievable DIY skills…truly impressive. And I knew that was Deborah’s pillow even before I read it – it is just perfect here! Congratulations on a spectacular finish!
